FAQs

How long will it take me to obtain my IMC?

On average it will take you about 70 hours of self study, plus a classroom course.  So, you need to consider how many study hours you can fit into the week, divided by the total 70 hours.  If you choose not to take the classroom course, then your study hours will increase accordingly.

Who runs the IMC?

CFA UK is the examining body for the Investment Management Certificate.  They administer the exams and you arrange to take the exam through them.

How regularly do courses run?

We usually run courses every fortnight.  Click here to see our dates and prices

How is the exam sat?

The examining body is the CFA Society of the UK.  The exam registration fee is paid through them and they put you in touch with a testing centre company called Pearson Vue.  So you simply find a test centre close to you, and book a convenient available time slot.

For more information – visit the CFA Society of the UK website.

Is there a deadline for completing both units of the IMC?

In practice you really need to have sat both units of the IMC within a two year period, since this is the maximum time recognised by the FSA for the qualification to be relevant.  However, in theory there is no deadline for when you have to have sat and passed both exams.

Does the cost of the course include the exam fee?

The cost of the courses quoted on our website does not include the exam fee; this is payable directly to the examining body.  7city does offer a fully managed exam administration service for corporate clients, however individuals booking the course and exam on their own behalf are responsible for booking the exams themselves.

What next?

The IMC is a great stepping stone to the CFA qualification.
