Who are the CISI and how does this relate to 7city?
The Chartered Insitute for Securities and Investment is the examining body for these certificates. They administer the exams and you arrange to take the exam through them. 7city is a financial training company. We are accredited by the CISI to provide training towards their qualification.
What papers do I need to take?
This is very subjective. Often financial markets institutions will tell you what you need to take contingent on your exact role within the firm. Otherwise it depends on the asset class you want to advise in, manage or sell, and who the client is.
What is the difference between Unit 1, FSA Financial Regulations, and Unit 6, Principles of Financial Regulation?
There is little difference in the content of the two papers, and the exams are equally rigorous. The key difference is in the focus of the information. Unit 1 is composed of content relevant to both the retail and the wholesale market. Unit 6 is completely wholesale focused.
However, Unit 1 of the Level 3 Certificates is not RDR compliant and therefore if you are planning to work in, or do work in, a retail advisory role that is captured by the RDR you will need to complete a qualification which makes you RDR compliant. The FSA's list of RDR compliant qualifications includes the Investment Advice Diploma which 7city trains towards. For more information about the RDR and how it affects you, please click here.
How long will it take to get through the exams?
It really depends on which units you are looking to take and how easily you can fit in your study hours. Visit this page for more information.
How regularly do the courses run?
We normally run courses every fortnight for unit one. Visit our website for more information.
