About AGSO

agso journey

Who takes the AGSO?

The Advanced Certificate in Global Securities Operations (AGSO) is taken by people working in operations and/or administration in the financial services industry. It provides a broad understanding of the environment in which your firm operates and is a practical qualification tailored to reflect current market issues.   It is suitable for both retail and wholesale firms and is particularly valuable to prepare yourself for a more demanding/senior role within the industry where a broad understanding of the industry is required.  The AGSO is primarily taken by supervisors, team leaders, assistant managers, managers and technical specialists working in investment operations (custody, settlements, corporate actions, treasury operations/cash management, derivatives and reconciliations).

Why enroll in the AGSO?

The AGSO is a globally recognised qualification and is developed in conjunction with leading operations practitioners.  It can help with a fast track to acquiring a senior level role within operations and provides a stepping stone between the IOC (IAQ) and the highly regarded Diploma in Investment Operations.

What's on the syllabus?

The AGSO consists of two exams:

  • Global Securities Operations (IOC, formerly IAQ, technical paper)
  • Advanced Global Securities Operations

  • Completed the IOC, formerly the IAQ
  • Completed one of the CISI Certificates in Investments
  • Completed a qualification recognised by the CISI as equivalent
  • Have at least 18 months industry experience at a comparable level
